At New Creation Fellowship Church, we see children and youth as valuable members of every community and celebrate their presence. We acknowledge the high value that Jesus placed on children during his earthly ministry. During the week our church basement is used as a preschool classroom while on Sundays we use it for our fellowship times, meals and childcare. In hopes of honoring each person’s differing needs and preferences, here are some opportunities for connection and care while we are together on Sunday mornings:
Activity Area
There is an Activity Area near the back of the sanctuary with books, quiet toys, fidgets and art supplies. Children are welcome to stay in the area or come and go with supplies to their pews. Rocking chairs are also available for those who benefit from rocking.
Bathroom/Diaper Changing
There are two private bathrooms available (the “pink one” is just outside of the sanctuary and the “preschool one” is at the bottom of the stairs). There are changing pads, diapers, wipes and extra clothes available in the preschool bathroom cabinet. There is also a changing table and rocking chair in the south basement room (straight back with paned windows and doors). See our attached Safe Sanctuary policy for more detailed bathroom practices.
Breastfeeding
As part of the Alliance with Breastfeeding Coalition of Kansas, we welcome breastfeeding anywhere in our facility at all times. For those preferring more privacy, there is a rocking chair and changing table available in the basement (connected to the preschool classroom with paned glass windows and door).
Childcare
Childcare is provided after Children’s Time for children through 2nd grade in the preschool classroom. According to our Safe Sanctuary policy (attached), the 2 caregivers for each Sunday are listed in the bulletin and have undergone background checks and training.
Children’s Time
Children, youth and the young-at-heart (including caregivers!) are invited to come to the rug at the front of the church for Children’s Time. We recognize that children have different needs and offer flexible seating and fidgets.
Communion
At NCFC, we practice open communion and welcome children and youth of all ages to participate. We serve grape juice, water and gluten free pretzels.
Fellowship Time and Potluck Breakfasts
Children are warmly welcomed in conversation and presence during our weekly 10am Fellowship Times (there is always hot chocolate, tea and coffee!) and monthly Potluck Breakfasts (4th Sundays at 9:30am).
Offering Takers
Every Sunday all children are invited to help collect the offering right before Children’s Time. We can team up and have multiple helpers! There are older children, youth and helpful adults who can assist them if they’d like that!
